If you have been involved in a motorcycle accident it is always best to contact the police so there is a report of the accident. In addition, you will want to obtain the other driver’s insurance information, license plate, make and model of the vehicle, and contact information. If possible, immediately take photographs of the scene and property damage.
If you are injured, make sure to seek medical treatment. Unlike a motor vehicle, there is no requirement in Minnesota that motorcycles have no-fault insurance coverage. It is possible to have no-fault coverage or insurance that covers some medical payments, but not all policies will have medical coverage. In some instances you may need to have your health insurance make payments. If your health insurance makes payments they will seek reimbursement from any recovery against the at-fault driver.
There are many complicated issues that can arise in motorcycle accidents, which makes it important that you contact an attorney that specializes in such cases. A personal injury attorney can help ensure you obtain reimbursement for your pain and suffering, medical bills, wage loss, property damage, and other loses.
